Last year, Steve Harvey temporarily earned the ire of both Filipino and Colombian beauty pageant fans when he announced the wrong winner at the Miss Universe 2015 pageant. Everyone thought then that his hosting career would be over (even with all the public apologies he made to both the Miss Universe winner and her 1st runner up). 

Turns out, his hosting career isn't done with after all! 

On July 29, 2016, the Family Feud host was announced by an official of the Department of Tourism to be the host of the Miss Universe 2017 pageant to be held here in the Philippines. It is noted that he had told the Miss Universe organization that he wants to apologize to the Filipinos and Pia Wurtzbach (the Miss Universe 2015 titleholder).

Beauty Pageant fans were treated with good news today as DOT Secretary Wanda Corazon Teo announced that the Philippines will host the 2017 Miss Universe pageant. It is recalled that last July 18, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach met with President Rodrigo Duterte to discuss the possibility of the Philippines hosting Miss Universe next year. Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach is the third Miss Universe titleholder of the Philippines, by the way.

The Miss Universe 2017 pageant is set to be held on January 2017 and funding for the event will come from the private sector with Henry Sy (of SM) and Japanese casino mogul Kazuo Okada being named as two of the primary sponsors for the event.

Yesterday, the Pro-Life Philippines foundation released a commercial through the Youth 4 Life Facebook page (which is affiliated to them). The commercial which clocks in at exactly one minute and thirty-three seconds fully captures the advocacy that the organization supports which is the advocacy of being against abortion.

You've heard it right, the Swedish chain of furniture stores now has definite plans to open their first store in the Philippines. The Philippine Daily Inquirer was the first to report the news (although exact details have not been made available yet).

Despite details on the first IKEA store in the Philippines not being out yet, Filipino Netizens have never been so excited for this. On the Twitter trends in the Philippines, IKEA ranks at number seven with 18.4K Tweets as of 2:20 pm today.
